Coca-Cola Foundation and HCCB Team Up for Responsible PET Collection in Mumbai and Thane

During the Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations in Mumbai and Thane, Anandana - The Coca-Cola India Foundation and Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages (HCCB) are working with Sangam Pratishthan to promote responsible PET waste collection. From September 16 to 25, four locations have been chosen for their high footfall: Ganesh Gully, Thane Cha Raja, Nare Park / Parel Cha Raja and Rangari.

The initiative aims to collect used PET bottles at these locations, with Safai Saathis supporting on-ground collection. The collected PET will be handed over to recycling partners, keeping it in the recycling stream and helping to maintain cleaner festival spaces.

Devyani R L Rana, Vice President- Public Affairs, Communications & Sustainability, Coca-Cola India and Southwest Asia, said: 'Mumbai's Ganeshotsav is a powerful expression of community... Through Maidaan Saaf, we are working with our partners to strengthen collection, segregation and recycling across these high-footfall celebrations.'

The initiative also includes transforming waste bottle caps and labels into a 'Waste to Wonder' mural by street artists Doodle Mapuls. Street plays will be organized to encourage visitors to adopt responsible disposal practices.
