Coca-Cola Hit with Class-Action Lawsuit After Ransomware Breach
A class-action lawsuit has been filed against the Coca-Cola Company in response to a data breach at its dairy company, Fairlife. The breach occurred on July 16 and was attributed to the ransomware group Anubis, which claimed it had taken a terabyte of confidential data from the company.
The lawsuit alleges that Coca-Cola and Fairlife failed to properly maintain and implement security practices for their network and systems, allowing the breach to occur. The plaintiffs claim they are at risk of identity theft and other fraud due to the potential misuse of their private information.
The lawsuit is seeking damages, reimbursement for fees to monitor credit or freeze it, as well as other out-of-pocket costs for protecting themselves financially. The plaintiffs also request that Coca-Cola provide lifetime credit monitoring and identity theft insurance to the members of the class action lawsuit.
