Coca-Cola Initiative Collects Used PET Bottles During Ganesh Chaturthi Celebrations

Coca-Cola India Foundation and Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages have launched an initiative to promote responsible PET collection during Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations in Mumbai and Thane. The 10-day initiative, which runs from September 16 to 25, aims to collect used PET bottles at four locations: Ganesh Gully, Thane Cha Raja, Nare Park / Parel Cha Raja, and Rangari.

The initiative is part of the broader Maidaan Saaf campaign, which focuses on promoting responsible plastic waste collection, segregation, and recycling at high-footfall cultural events. Devyani R L Rana, Vice President- Public Affairs, Communications & Sustainability, Coca-Cola India and Southwest Asia, said, 'Mumbai’s Ganeshotsav is a powerful expression of community, bringing millions of people together in celebration.'

The collected PET bottles will be handed over to recycling partners, keeping them in the recycling stream. To make waste management more visible and accessible to communities, street plays are being organized, and waste bottle caps and labels have been transformed into a 'Waste to Wonder' mural.
