Coca-Cola is expanding its product lineup with prebiotic versions of some of its most iconic sodas. The company is testing prebiotic variants of Coca-Cola Zero Sugar, Sprite Zero Sugar, and Fresca, each containing six grams of prebiotic fiber and zero sugar. This move comes as Coca-Cola looks to tap into the growing prebiotic soda market, where competitor PepsiCo has already made strides with its own prebiotic offerings, including the acquisition of Poppi in 2025 and the launch of prebiotic Pepsi drinks.
The new prebiotic sodas will be available as a market test in New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania at the end of October. Coca-Cola assures that the iconic flavors of these sodas will remain unchanged, with Coca-Cola Zero Sugar retaining its signature taste, Sprite Zero Sugar maintaining its energetic profile, and Fresca keeping its classic citrus flavor. Despite not yet being on shelves, fans have already expressed excitement on social media, with some noting their preference for Coca-Cola over Pepsi's prebiotic offerings.
Coca-Cola's foray into prebiotics is part of a broader innovation streak, following recent launches like Smartwater and Topo Chico sparkling waters, as well as limited-edition holiday sodas. The company's only current prebiotic offering is Simply Pop, which provides five flavors with prebiotic fiber, zinc, and vitamin C. With the new prebiotic sodas, Coca-Cola aims to cater to health-conscious consumers without compromising on taste.
