Coca-Cola Surprisingly Effective at Removing Limescale from Bathrooms
Limescale can be a pesky problem in even the cleanest bathrooms. According to Brian Toward, CEO of Wholesale Domestic, limescale is especially common due to high water usage.
Any lingering droplets left to air dry can leave behind mineral deposits that form limescale over time. If left untreated, too much limescale can build up in pipes and restrict water flow, leading to decreased water pressure and plumbing issues, which can be costly.
Brian has shared a number of methods for banishing limescale, including using Coca-Cola. The beverage contains phosphoric acid, which reacts with calcium carbonate to dissolve limescale. To use this method, pour Coca-Cola onto the affected areas and let it sit for several hours or overnight. Then, scrub the area with a brush and rinse.
For those looking for an alternative, Brian suggests using lemon juice and salt or vinegar and baking soda. The citric acid in lemon juice breaks down limescale, while the salt helps lift it off surfaces. White vinegar and baking soda can be mixed together to create a powerful paste that can remove limescale.
