Johnson & Johnson Sees Path to Double-Digit Growth Despite Patent Losses
Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) expressed confidence in its growth prospects despite anticipating major patent losses and regulatory challenges at the Deutsche Bank Healthcare Summit.
Chief Financial Officer Joseph Wolk said the company sees a clear path to double-digit growth by the end of the decade, above its earlier 5% to 7% long-term range. The firm reported 6.6% revenue growth in the second quarter and raised its 2026 outlook, targeting annual sales above $100 billion.
Wolk emphasized that major patent losses are expected in 2027, but Johnson & Johnson has a proven record of replacing revenue through new products and market expansion. The company is focused on six core areas: oncology, immunology, and neuroscience in pharmaceuticals, and surgery, vision, and cardiovascular in med tech.
Johnson & Johnson's drug business remains a major growth engine, with several programs aimed at expanding into larger markets and earlier lines of treatment. In addition to its pharmaceutical segment, the company's med tech business is built around 28 platforms that each generate more than $1 billion in revenue.
