Coinbase Launches Tokenized Apple Stock on Base Network
Coinbase has launched AAPLc, a tokenized representation of Apple stock on its Base network. This marks an expansion into tokenized equities for the platform.
AAPLc is part of Coinbase's broader tokenized stocks program, which was launched on August 24. Each token represents a 1:1 beneficial interest in an actual Apple share, held by Alpaca Securities as custodian under Abu Dhabi Global Market regulations.
The structure is designed to be bankruptcy-remote, meaning the Apple shares backing the tokens are separate from Coinbase's potential insolvency issues.
AAPLc trades at a price closely tracking Apple's stock, around $310 per share. The token lives on Base and uses the B20 token standard.
