Coinbase Seeks CFTC Approval for Single-Stock Perpetual Futures
Coinbase is looking to bring one of crypto's most popular trading instruments into the US stock market, filing with the CFTC for approval to list single-stock perpetual futures.
The company has filed through Coinbase Derivatives, seeking to offer roughly 50-60 contracts, including Apple, Microsoft, Tesla, and Nvidia, possibly launching later this year. Perpetual futures track an asset's price but carry no expiration date, allowing traders to hold positions indefinitely as long as they meet margin and funding requirements.
This move extends Coinbase's push into onshore derivatives amid a broader race to bring perps to US traders. The CFTC has approved similar products for other companies, such as Kalshi, which offers Bitcoin perpetual futures, while Polymarket is working on crypto perpetual futures of its own.
