ColibriTD Unveils Breakthrough in Quantum PDE Solving with H-DES
ColibriTD has made significant progress in developing its Quantum PDE Solver, as showcased at IEEE Quantum Week. The company's research and development team, led by R&D engineer Paolo Fittipaldi, presented a hardware-agnostic solver for partial differential equations (PDEs) called H-DES.
H-DES uses variational quantum computing to tackle general PDEs without making assumptions tied to specific equations or quantum backends. This approach broadens the applicability of the solver and allows it to be used in a wide range of fields, including finance and physics.
ColibriTD reported test results on the Black-Scholes equation for multiple assets, showing low mean squared error on a simulator. The company also executed pressureless Euler equations on IBM's 70-qubit Fez QPU, demonstrating its ability to run on real quantum hardware.
The results indicate that ColibriTD is positioning itself in the emerging niche of quantum-enhanced numerical methods for finance and physics. The company's focus on research-driven intellectual property could be relevant for financial engineering, risk modeling, and high-performance computing as NISQ-era quantum hardware matures.
