Comcast and Disney Show Different Revenue Trends Amid Industry Shifts
Comcast and Walt Disney are two major players in the entertainment industry. While both companies have experienced growth, their revenue trends differ significantly.
Comcast has seen a modest contraction in its core operating revenue over recent quarters, mainly due to divestitures of some business units. However, on a pro forma basis, Comcast's Q2 revenue increased 4.7% year-over-year. The company plans to spin off its NBCUniversal media business into an independent publicly traded company.
In contrast, Walt Disney has enjoyed consistent upward revenue growth momentum, with a 7% year-over-year increase in the fiscal third quarter ended June 27. Strong 10% growth in revenue from the Experiences division, which includes theme parks and cruise ships, contributed to this increase.
