Cook Praises Australia's Social Media Curbs as World-Leading
Apple's Executive Chair Tim Cook has praised Australia's social media curbs as 'world-leading', according to Prime Minister Anthony Albanese. The two met at Apple Park, California, on Sunday.
The Australian government introduced a plan to give social media users the option to select the content they see on their feeds this month. In December, Australia became the first country to ban social media for children under 16.
Other governments have followed suit, with the European Commission proposing such a ban for children under 13. Cook recently stepped down as Apple CEO after 15 years in the role and met with Albanese to discuss some of Apple's newest innovations, including strong and intuitive controls to help keep kids safe online.
