Australia's efforts to regulate social media have been praised by Apple Executive Chair Tim Cook. Speaking after meeting with Cook, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said that Cook views Australia's curbs on social media as 'world-leading'. This comes after Australia implemented a plan to give users the option to select the content they see on their feeds, and in December banned social media for children under 16.

Other countries have followed suit, with the European Commission proposing a ban on social media for children under 13. Cook's comments are significant, given his recent step down as Apple CEO after 15 years in the role.
