CRM Vendors Rethink Traditional Interfaces Amid Rise of AI
The traditional Customer Relationship Management (CRM) model is undergoing significant changes as top vendors seek to push data, business rules, and customer context out of conventional CRM interfaces and into AI agents, collaboration tools, and service workflows.
Salesforce unveiled its new CRM vision at Dreamforce 2026, aiming to make CRM less of an administrative burden by integrating it with external interfaces such as Slack, Microsoft Teams, and Anthropic's Claude. The vendor introduced AIforce, which allows employees to access Salesforce customer data and take authorized actions from within these platforms.
HuubSpot took a more practical approach, introducing a self-updating Smart CRM that automatically captures and synchronizes calls, emails, and meetings. HubSpot argues that AI agents are only as useful as the CRM data beneath them.
