Dangote Picks Honeywell for Kenya Refinery Technology Package
Aliko Dangote's planned refinery in Kenya has taken another step forward as US-based Honeywell Technologies is set to provide engineering services, technology, and equipment for the project. The contract, valued at KSh38.9 billion ($300 million), covers a central part of the refinery's processing infrastructure.
Honeywell will include process technologies, licensing, engineering services, proprietary catalysts, equipment, and digital solutions in its package. This is not the company's first collaboration with Dangote, as it has worked with the group for nearly a decade and developed designs for Dangote's existing refinery at Lekki in Nigeria.
The Kenyan refinery is designed to process 700,000 barrels of oil per day, making its proposed processing capacity larger than the current nameplate capacity of Dangote's Lekki refinery. Honeywell believes that reusing established designs could shorten the development schedule by nearly two years, almost 30% compared with typical newly constructed facilities.
