Dangote's Kenyan Refinery to Pay Honeywell UOP Commission Per Barrel Processed
Aliko Dangote's planned refinery in Lamu, Kenya is set to be one of Africa's largest industrial developments. During a groundbreaking ceremony on September 30, Dangote revealed that American firm Honeywell UOP will earn a commission on every barrel processed at the refinery.
The refinery, which has a processing capacity of 700,000 barrels per day, is expected to take about 40 months to complete and create up to 60,000 jobs at its peak. Dangote said that Honeywell UOP sold the technology for building the refinery and will earn a commission on every barrel processed.
The project is seen as a major economic boost for Kenya, with potential benefits including increased trade and transportation opportunities. The Lamu refinery is expected to become one of Dangote's biggest investments outside Nigeria, where he has another refinery with similar capacity.
