Day Laborers Vanish in Unexplained Detentions at Concord Home Depot

On Wednesday morning, unmarked vehicles entered a Home Depot parking lot in Concord, California. At least four day laborers were taken by people wearing patches marked 'ERO', which are the initials for the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations division.

A witness who recorded the incident told advocates that four day laborers were taken into unmarked SUVs. The account has raised questions about which agency was involved, as both ICE and Home Depot have denied making the arrests.

The Concord Immigrant Protections Network is still trying to locate the workers' names and whereabouts. Advocates protested outside the store on Thursday, calling on Home Depot to denounce immigration raids at its stores and urging Concord officials to do more to protect immigrants.

Home Depot released a statement saying it 'cannot legally interfere with federal enforcement agencies'. The company also claimed that it is not notified about or involved in immigration enforcement activities.
