Delta Airbus A350 and Air Canada Boeing 777 Collide at LAX
Delta Air Lines Flight 7, an Airbus A350, was involved in a collision with an Air Canada Boeing 777 at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) on Tuesday morning. The incident occurred around 10:30 AM local time when the Delta aircraft’s left wingtip clipped the horizontal stabilizer of the Air Canada plane, which was being towed and stopped short of its gate.
Both airlines confirmed the contact between their aircraft. Delta reported that 275 passengers and 15 crew members were on board its Airbus A350 at the time of the incident. No injuries were reported, and Delta emphasized that safety remained its top priority, apologizing to affected customers for the delays.
Air Canada has taken the Boeing 777 involved in the incident out of service for inspection and repairs. The aircraft had arrived from Toronto Pearson International Airport before the collision occurred. The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is investigating the circumstances surrounding the contact between the two aircraft.
Both airlines are conducting their own assessments to determine the extent of the damage and necessary repairs. The FAA’s investigation will focus on the movements of the aircraft and the causes of the contact at LAX.
