DHS Awards Google Up to $876M for Commercial Cloud Services
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has awarded Google Public Sector a contract worth up to $876 million for commercial cloud services across the department. This is part of DHS's push, called Cumulus, to purchase cloud services on a department-wide basis rather than one component at a time.
Cumulus aims to make cloud purchasing more efficient, flexible, and effective, unlocking significant discounts in the process. The Google award is the third deal under this contract model, following Amazon Web Services' nearly $3 billion award in June and Oracle's $568 million contract in August.
The contracts share a common architecture: single-award IDIQ vehicles with a base year plus four options, and an Anything as a Service scope. This allows DHS to standardize terms, security requirements, and oversight across the department while preserving competition among major cloud service providers.
