Dimon Heads to Mumbai Amid Equity Boom
JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon is traveling to Mumbai this week for the bank's annual investor conference, which will draw more than 1,000 global investors and corporate executives. The visit comes after JPMorgan reclaimed the top spot in India's equity issuance market last year, with Indian companies raising nearly $55 billion through IPOs, share placements, and block trades.
Rahul Badhwar, JPMorgan's senior country officer for India, says that Indian companies are expanding overseas while multinationals deepen their local presence, driving demand for strategic advisory, financing, and capital markets services. The bank is focused on cross-border M&A, the innovation economy, manufacturing, healthcare, consumer, financial services, and technology.
JPMorgan has a significant presence in India, employing roughly 60,000 people across its global capability centers in multiple Indian cities. The bank established a branch in Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City) to trade equities and other financial instruments for offshore clients.
