Dimon Leads JPMorgan Charge into India's Booming Markets
JPMorgan Chase is expanding its investment banking business in India as Chief Executive Jamie Dimon attends the bank's annual India conference in Mumbai. The US-based bank expects stronger demand for deals, financing, and capital-markets advice from Indian companies.
The conference, which will attract over 1,000 investors, corporate executives, and policymakers, will focus on India's growth outlook, capital markets, and investment opportunities. JPMorgan says it has seen increased competition in the market, with Kotak Mahindra Capital taking the top spot in Bloomberg's India equity capital-markets rankings for the first half of 2026.
The bank has also expanded its operations in GIFT City in Gujarat, where it has established a securities unit and a banking unit that can trade Indian equities, debt, and derivatives for global clients. However, JPMorgan has faced regulatory scrutiny in India, with the markets regulator lifting a trading ban on Copthall Mauritius Investment, a JPMorgan entity accused of manipulating stock prices.
