Disney Acquires Yamaha's Cypress Headquarters for $115 Million
Walt Disney Parks and Resorts U.S. Inc. has completed the acquisition of Yamaha Motor Corp.'s former Southern California headquarters for approximately $115 million. The deal, finalized on September 23, 2026, involves a 25-acre industrial site in Cypress, California, which includes about 279,000 square feet of warehouse, flex, and office spaces. Disney plans to use the property for non-guest-facing, back-of-house operations, citing its strategic location near Disneyland Resort in Anaheim.
The acquisition follows Yamaha's decision to relocate its U.S. headquarters to Kennesaw, Georgia, as part of a broader strategy to enhance asset efficiency and profitability. Yamaha announced earlier this year that it would sell its Cypress property and transfer headquarters functions to Georgia between the end of 2026 and the end of 2028. The company will continue leasing the Cypress property until December 31, 2028, under a sale-and-leaseback arrangement to ensure a smooth transition.
Yamaha's presence in Cypress spans nearly fifty years, with the company purchasing the land in 1978 and establishing the office the following year. The move to Georgia is part of a larger reorganization effort aimed at addressing elevated costs related to U.S. tariffs and market shifts. Currently, Yamaha operates a significant portion of its business in Georgia, including a marine division that relocated to Kennesaw in 1999 and a motorsports division that moved there in 2019. The state is home to over 2,300 Yamaha employees, with about 2,000 working at its Newnan manufacturing plant.
