Disney Alters Monstropolis Concept Art Removing Controversial Elements
Disney has updated concept art for The Glob Theater lobby in Monstropolis after the original was displayed at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The initial artwork, shown in late September, featured glass chandeliers with monster-themed details like eyes, horns, and teeth. The revised design now includes chandeliers that are more classic, though they still retain a subtle resemblance to Celia Mae’s snake-like hair with a scaly texture.
Another notable change involves the poster near the concessions stand. Originally, it advertised a parody movie titled Silence of the Cribs, a nod to the horror film Silence of the Lambs. The updated poster now promotes a concert for an octopus musician inspired by The Blues Brothers, performing “live at the Glob.”
The reason behind these changes remains unclear, and it is unknown whether the updated art has been replaced in the Monstropolis preview center. Disney fans and visitors are encouraged to share their thoughts on the new design via social media.
