Disney and TikTok Partner to Let Creators Use Disney Characters in Videos
The Walt Disney Company and TikTok have announced a new partnership that will allow creators to use Disney characters in their videos. The deal, unveiled on Wednesday, grants social media users access to iconic scenes and moments from Disney movies and shows for content creation. This content will be featured on both TikTok and Verts, the vertical video feed on Disney+.
According to the joint release, the collaboration will include characters and stories from Disney's extensive brands, such as Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, and FX. TikTok will provide creators with assets related to hundreds of films and series from Disney's library, aiming to engage fans through timely content that refreshes regularly. The initiative is set to launch in the U.S. in the coming months, with plans to expand to other markets.
Asad Ayaz, chief marketing and brand officer at Disney, expressed enthusiasm about fans' ability to tell stories. He stated, "The best storytellers are fans first." Dawn Yang, TikTok's global head of entertainment, highlighted the deal's role in bringing "the authentic creator expression of the TikTok community to Disney+".
The partnership also introduces the Disney Creator Ambassador Program, a joint effort to reward top creators with special incentives, increased visibility, and access to exclusive events. Disney described the program as a commitment to nurturing the next generation of creative talent in collaboration with TikTok.
