Disney and TikTok Team Up for Short-Form Content
Disney has partnered with TikTok to create short-form content on both platforms. The collaboration will feature creators making shorts tied to popular Disney characters and stories, which will be available as 'Verts' on both TikTok and Disney+. This move aims to tap into the growing demand for shorter videos, with younger audiences increasingly watching quick-hit videos.
The agreement will launch in the US in the coming months and expand to other markets worldwide. Financial terms were not disclosed. The partnership includes a 'Disney Creator Ambassador Program' that will provide incentives and access to events and career development for select TikTok creators.
This deal comes after Disney's previous ambitious project with OpenAI was scrapped. The entertainment giant had planned to invest $1 billion in the company, but ultimately decided to partner with TikTok instead.
