Disney Announces Another Round of Layoffs Ahead of Fiscal Year-End
Disney has reportedly announced another round of layoffs, this time affecting various departments within the company. According to unnamed sources cited by Matthew Belloni in his Puck News column, the cuts will be more limited and focused on HR, product/tech, and other operations functions.
The news comes after previous rounds of layoffs in April, July, and August, which saw around 1,000 employees let go. This latest round is expected to affect hundreds of people across various divisions, including ESPN and Disney Entertainment Television.
Notably, the Disney Parks and Experiences division has not been affected by these cuts, with Walt Disney World and Disneyland remaining untouched. The layoffs are likely a result of Disney's efforts to streamline its operations and reduce costs ahead of its fiscal year-end in late September.
