Disney Boosts Direct-to-Consumer with Promotions and New Roles
Disney Entertainment has promoted Adam Smith to chairman of its Direct-to-Consumer division, overseeing strategy, development, and platform innovation at Disney+ and Hulu. Joe Earley will lead television franchise and content strategy as president.
Smith's expanded role includes product and engineering teams, adtech, emerging technologies, programming strategy, viewer experience, partnerships, and data & analytics. He joined Disney in 2024 from Google and YouTube, where he held executive roles for over 20 years.
Dana Walden praised Smith's work, saying 'Over the past two years, Adam has done an exceptional job building a world-class team of product and technology leaders.' The company is transforming Disney+ into its digital centerpiece, with elements of this vision to be introduced in the spring.
