Disney Celebrates Creator-Led Entertainment at Historic El Capitan Theatre

Disney's partnership with YouTube creators reached new heights at the historic El Capitan Theatre in Los Angeles. Creator expert Jon Youshaei joined forces with Disney to bring creator content to the big screen, and over 350 creators from around the world attended the event.

The night was filled with glamour and Hollywood-style entertainment, including a red carpet, step-and-repeat, and big band music. But the focus was on the creators themselves, who showcased their work in front of Disney's President and Chief Creative Officer Dana Walden.

Two standout creators took home Golden Slate Awards for their films: Sticks, an Australian duo who created a cinematic trailer about Technoblade, and Zach King, known for his cardboard-made Star Wars parodies. Both films demonstrated the versatility and creativity of creator-led entertainment, which can be produced at a fraction of the cost of traditional Hollywood productions.

Walden praised the creators for their ability to connect with their audiences in real-time, citing the immediacy and responsiveness that is unique to digital creators. She expressed Disney's hope for an exchange between the two worlds, where they can learn from each other and collaborate on new projects.
