Disney Closes Popular Mexico Pavilion Shop, Dismantles Interactive Stop
A popular interactive stop in the Mexico World Showcase Pavilion at EPCOT has been closed. The Oaxacan wood carving stand, which sold colorful animal figures hand-carved from Mexican woods, permanently shut its doors on August 31.
As of September 1, all remnants of the shop have vanished, and the nearby Kidcot stop has been dismantled with velvet ropes blocking guest access. This interactive scavenger hunt was part of EPCOT's World Showcase, targeted at kids and adults alike.
The Plaza de los Amigos area where the shop once stood now features a large barrel and lamppost. No replacement for the Kidcot stop has been announced by Walt Disney World Resort, leaving guests without access to this interactive experience in the Mexico Pavilion.
