Disney Commemorates Jack Kirby with Plaque at Avengers Campus

Marvel Comics has unveiled a commemorative plaque at Avengers Campus in Disney California Adventure Park to honor Jack Kirby's 109th birthday. The campus, which celebrates the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), owes much of its inspiration to Kirby's vision and storytelling.

The plaque was placed between two quotes from Kirby himself, one of which originated from a 1982 interview with Entertainment Tonight: 'If you look at my characters, you will find me. No matter what kind of character you create or assume, a little of yourself must remain there.'

A private ceremony attended by members of the Kirby family, Marvel executives, and Walt Disney Imagineering officials marked the unveiling.

The installation comes four years after Stan Lee's own plaque was installed at Avengers Campus in 2022. It also precedes Marvel Comics' move from New York to the Greater Los Angeles area next year.
