Disney Confirms Reservation System Will Stay Indefinitely Amid Attendance Spikes

Walt Disney World has confirmed that its theme park reservation system will remain in place indefinitely. The system, which was introduced in 2020 as part of the company's phased reopening, allows Annual Passholders to reserve a spot at one or more of the four main theme parks: Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom.

In recent years, the reservation system has become less restrictive, with Passholders able to visit any park after 2:00 p.m. without making a reservation. However, there are still some exceptions, including Saturdays and Sundays at Magic Kingdom, where reservations are required regardless of arrival time.

Recently, on September 26, the reservation system proved its worth when three parks - Epcot, Hollywood Studios, and Magic Kingdom - reached capacity for Passholder reservations. This was a rare occurrence, as Passholder reservations have become less common in recent times. The EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival and new offerings at Disney's Hollywood Studios may have contributed to the high demand.

While some Passholders had hoped that the reservation system would be eliminated altogether, it seems unlikely that this will happen anytime soon. In fact, the system may become even more important as Disney continues to manage attendance and control crowds.
