Disney Crossover Fighting Game Project Revealed: 'Disney's Action Figure Face Off'
A former concept artist at Disney Interactive has confirmed that the studio once planned to develop a crossover fighting game featuring various Disney characters. The project, which was codenamed 'Disney's Action Figure Face Off,' would have pitted iconic characters like Captain Hook and King Louie against each other in battle.
According to Ken Christiansen, who worked on the concept for four years, the idea was inspired by the success of Kingdom Hearts. However, Disney executives were hesitant to combine certain properties, such as The Lion King and The Little Mermaid, which ultimately led to the project being scrapped.
The prototype stage game would have featured 1v1 battles between eight different characters, including deep cuts like the Horned King. Christiansen shared concept art from his online portfolio, showing rough sketches of various Disney characters facing off in battle.
