Disney Earnings: Investors Eye Streaming Growth and Theme Park Resilience

Disney is set to release its quarterly earnings before the bell on Wednesday, with investors closely watching the direction of the company's streaming and theme parks business. The report will come just four months into the tenure of CEO Josh D'Amaro, who has outlined plans for growth through investing in intellectual property and advancing technology around storytelling.

Under D'Amaro's leadership, Disney has seen layoffs across the company, with the most recent round occurring in July at divisions including ESPN. This move is part of a broader cost-cutting effort aimed at boosting profit margins.

The theme parks business remains a key driver of revenue and profit for Disney, but the impact of the U.S.-Israel conflict with Iran and related jump in oil prices has affected some peers. Last quarter, Comcast's NBCUniversal reported lower attendance at its Orlando parks due to 'weakness in consumer sentiment and higher travel costs.'

Despite these trends, Disney said demand at domestic parks remained healthy during the quarter, with an increase in guest spending.
