Disney Expands Netflix Licensing Deal for Select Films and Shows

The Walt Disney Company has renewed its licensing agreement with Netflix, allowing a selection of Disney films and TV shows to stream on Netflix through 2024. This deal includes the first two seasons of Percy Jackson and the Olympians, which originally premiered on Disney+, and all five Ice Age movies. Both titles are available for a limited three-month window. The licensing of the Ice Age films coincides with the upcoming theatrical release of Ice Age: Boiling Point, providing additional promotional exposure for the franchise.

Beyond these titles, Disney is also licensing the ABC drama Will Trent and the Touchstone Television production Felicity to Netflix. Additionally, several Disney and Pixar movies, including Soul, Elio, and Raya and the Last Dragon, are scheduled to appear on Netflix in early 2027, with availability varying by country.

Disney emphasizes that most of its branded content will remain exclusive to its own streaming services and television networks. The company last licensed content to Netflix in 2023, offering older TV series acquired from 21st Century Fox. Disney's relationship with Netflix dates back further, with classic Disney films available on the platform until 2012, followed by a brief arrangement in the mid-2010s through Starz.

The current deal marks a continuation of Disney's on-and-off partnership with Netflix, balancing exclusive content on Disney+ with selective licensing to reach broader audiences.
