Disney Honors Dolly Parton's Lasting Legacy with Classic Film Re-Release and TV Tribute

The Walt Disney Company is celebrating Dolly Parton's lasting legacy in entertainment and philanthropy with a week-long theatrical re-release of the classic workplace comedy film '9 to 5.'

The movie will be restored for its one-week engagement from October 9 to October 15, and tickets are now on sale nationwide. Disney is donating net proceeds from every U.S. ticket purchased to The Dollywood Foundation in support of Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, a literacy initiative that has provided millions of free books to children around the world.

The announcement was made on 'Give Like Dolly Day,' an annual celebration dedicated to honoring Dolly Parton's lifelong dedication to helping children and inspiring communities to make a difference in a child's life. This year's celebration is being observed on 9/25, inspired by the film's title track.

The Country Music Association (CMA) is also paying tribute to Dolly Parton with a two-hour television special featuring performances, archival footage, and personal stories, titled 'I Will Always Love You: A Celebration of Dolly Parton.' The special will be filmed at Belmont University's Fisher Center for the Performing Arts in Nashville and will air live on ABC and stream on Disney+ in the U.S. and internationally.
