Disney Hosts $25K-Per-Head Fundraiser for Florida Attorney General

Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier is hosting a $25,000-per-head fundraiser at Walt Disney World, according to an invitation circulated by his political committee. The event, called a 'family weekend', will take place from October 23-25, just a week before the November general election.

The 'Friends of James Uthmeier' committee is chaired by Uthmeier himself and has received contributions from Walt Disney Parks & Resorts in the past. Campaign finance records show that the company donated $1,440 to the committee earlier this month.

This fundraiser comes after Disney resumed political contributions to Republican candidates following a temporary pause in 2022. The company had publicly clashed with Governor Ron DeSantis and state lawmakers over legislation concerning discussions of sexual orientation and gender identity in schools.
