Disney Jumps on Streaming Price Hike Bandwagon
Disney has increased prices for its streaming services Disney+ and Hulu. The ad-free premium tiers of both services will now cost $21.49 per month, up from $19 a month previously. Existing subscribers will see these new prices on their next monthly bill.
The ad-supported versions of both services will also increase in price, costing $12.49 per month each, which is 50 cents more than the previous price.
However, Disney's bundles combining Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN are still offering good value for customers. The ad-supported bundle remains at $12.99 a month, while the ad-free bundle increases by only $2 to $21.99 per month.
This price increase reflects Disney's push towards encouraging customers to subscribe to its bundles instead of choosing standalone subscriptions. In recent months, several other streaming services have also increased their prices, including Amazon Prime Video and Netflix.
