Disney Legend Kim Irvine Shares Her Story

Kim Irvine, a renowned Imagineer and Disney Legend, reflected on her contributions to the company in an exclusive Q&A. As one of 13 individuals being honored at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, Irvine expressed gratitude for being named a Disney Legend.

She credited her parents, who were both artists, for encouraging her to pursue a career in the arts. Her mother, Leota Toombs, was also a Disney Legend, which made the recognition even more special for Irvine.

Irvine shared that working with original Imagineers during her early years at WED Enterprises (now Walt Disney Imagineering) was 'pure magic.' She tried to live by their lessons every day and pass them on to young Imagineers.

When asked about balancing nostalgia with innovation, Irvine noted that Walt's dream for Disneyland was for it to evolve and grow. She emphasized the importance of keeping the park relevant to its audience while maintaining its original intent.
