Disney Legend's Scooter Confiscated by First Order Officer in Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance
Disney Legend Bob Gurr, renowned for his decades-long career designing revolutionary transportation systems for Disney, recently encountered an unexpected challenge while visiting Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance at Disneyland Park. While attempting to board the attraction on his mobility scooter, a First Order officer 'confiscated' the vehicle, claiming it was being taken to the trash compactor.
Gurr, who has spent nearly four decades working with Walt Disney Imagineering and designed over 100 transportation systems for Disney attractions, including the Autopia vehicles and Disneyland Monorails, refused to give up his scooter. The exchange took place within a First Order Star Destroyer hangar, where guests are being directed as 'prisoners' after their Resistance transport is captured.
The Cast Member insisted that Gurr's scooter would be taken away, warning him it would 'never see the light of day again.' However, Gurr remained unyielding, declaring 'You do not have the authority to confiscate my transporter!' The officer eventually ordered Gurr to say goodbye to his scooter.
Despite his valiant efforts, Gurr ultimately joined the rest of the prisoners on foot for the remainder of the ride experience.
