Disney Licenses Content to Netflix in New Streaming Deal
Disney has struck a new licensing agreement with Netflix, allowing select Disney+ titles to stream on the rival platform. The deal includes a mix of legacy content and currently airing TV series, with a notable inclusion being the first two seasons of Percy Jackson and the Olympians, which is now available on Netflix for a three-month window ahead of its Season 3 premiere on Disney+ on November 20th.
Other titles making their way to Netflix include all five Ice Age movies, which are available for streaming for a three-month period before the release of Ice Age: Boiling Point in February 2027. Additional content such as Will Trent Seasons 1-4, Shifting Gears Seasons 1-2, Tracker Seasons 1-3, Pixar’s Soul, Elio movies, and Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Raya and the Last Dragon will also be added to Netflix in the coming months.
Variety reports that this agreement is described as a “mutually beneficial deal,” with Netflix gaining more content and Disney reaching a larger audience for non-flagship franchises like Marvel and Star Wars.
