Disney Names Adam Smith as Direct-to-Consumer Chairman Amid Streaming Expansion

The Walt Disney Company has made two key executive appointments in its entertainment division. Adam Smith will take on the role of Chairman of Direct-to-Consumer for Disney Entertainment, overseeing the company's global subscription video-on-demand business, including Disney+ and Hulu platforms.

Smith joined Disney in 2024 and brings over 20 years of experience from his previous position at Google and YouTube. He most recently served as Co-President, Direct-to-Consumer and Chief Product & Technology Officer for Disney Entertainment and ESPN.

In a separate move, Joe Earley will become President, Disney Entertainment Television Franchise and Content Strategy. This new role sees him leading the strategic development of Disney's television franchises and overseeing content production for international originals.
