Disney Names Adam Smith Sole Leader of Direct-to-Consumer Division
Disney has restructured its leadership team in the direct-to-consumer division. Adam Smith is now the sole leader as Chairman, Direct-to-Consumer, Disney Entertainment, taking over from his previous role as Co-President of Direct-to-Consumer and Chief Product & Technology Officer for Disney Entertainment and ESPN.
This change comes amid an initiative by new CEO Josh D'Amaro and CFO Hugh Johnston to streamline operations and improve productivity across the company. The reorganization is also part of a broader effort to modernize and integrate various divisions, including Hulu and ESPN programming onto Disney+.
Smith's expanded role includes overseeing Disney+ and Hulu, including product, engineering, advertising technology, programming strategy, viewer experience, partnerships, and data & analytics. He will be responsible for the company's global entertainment SVOD business.
