Disney On Ice Brings Joy and Magic to Rio Rancho Families

Disney On Ice recently brought its magic to Rio Rancho families at the Rio Rancho Events Center. The show, titled "Find Your Hero," featured beloved Disney characters like Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, and Goofy as hosts. The performance showcased a blend of solo skating, couples routines, and aerial stunts, with Ariel from "The Little Mermaid" stealing the show. Sarah Santee, who portrayed Ariel, delivered an impressive performance that combined skating and aerial work, reminiscent of high-priced shows in Las Vegas.

Santee's family has a deep connection to Disney On Ice. Her father joined the production in 1984, where he met her mother, an accomplished skater who portrayed characters like Cinderella, Ariel, and Snow White. All three of their children became Disney On Ice skaters, with Sarah eventually taking on the role of Ariel, a character her mother once portrayed. The show also featured international performers, adding to the spectacle and bringing skaters and entertainers from around the world to Rio Rancho.

The audience was filled with children dressed as their favorite Disney characters, from Tinker Bell to Elsa and Cinderella. Their excitement and belief in the magic of the show brought back memories for the author, who recalled taking his own children to the circus years ago. Despite changes in the characters and performers over the years, the joy and wonder experienced by the children proved that Feld Entertainment, which has been producing Disney On Ice for 45 years, has not lost its touch.
