Disney Outshines Competition with Sizzling Summer Deals
Disney theme parks have seen a significant increase in attendance this year, bucking the trend of declining visitor numbers at its competitors. According to The Wall Street Journal, Disney's parks saw a 3% rise in visitors during the most recent quarter compared to last year, marking the biggest jump since 2023.
This surge in attendance comes as Universal Orlando Resort and SeaWorld reported fewer guests compared to last year. SeaWorld attributed its decline to poor weather in July and fewer international visitors, while Universal cited high gas prices and expensive plane tickets as contributing factors.
Disney's success can be attributed to a range of discounts and promotions offered by the company. Hugh Johnson, Disney's Chief Financial Officer, stated that the company was focused on providing affordable options for American visitors. One such promotion is the Cool Kids' Summer program, which offers activities like kid dance parties and character meet-and-greets.
In California, Disneyland Resort has introduced deals including free 'park hopping' between its two theme parks for kids aged 3-9. Additionally, Disney launched a year-round promotion at the start of the year where young children can eat for free if others in their party book a room at a Disney-owned hotel and purchase dining plans.
