Disney Overhauls My Experience App with New Characters and AI Search
Disney has rolled out a major update to its My Disney Experience app, introducing a refreshed selection of profile characters organized into categories like Disney Princesses, Disney Villains, Mickey & Friends, and Modern Favorites. The new options include classics like Judy Hopps, Nick Wilde, and Simba, alongside villains such as Scar, Ursula, and Maleficent. This update is part of a broader overhaul planned for the app, which will include a visual redesign, group planning tools, and an AI-powered search engine.
The app's current search feature, known for inaccurate results, will be replaced with an AI-driven system designed to provide clear, relevant information. For example, a search for "ride in space" will now summarize attractions like Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind and Space Mountain, with direct links to booking options. The redesign will also introduce a dynamic home screen that adapts to the user's trip stage, a Trip Checklist for upcoming tasks, and native Spanish-language support.
Despite the excitement, the rollout has encountered some hiccups. A notice about the AI feature was mistakenly published on the Walt Disney World website, suggesting it was limited to food and beverage questions. Insiders clarified that the AI search is not yet fully functional. Disney executives caution users to verify important details, such as dining and Lightning Lane times, through official channels until the new features are fully implemented.
While the app's profile character update is live, the full redesign is expected to roll out over the coming months. For now, users can enjoy the new character options and prepare for the upcoming AI enhancements by staying informed through official sources.
