Disney Revamps Three Classic Attractions at Walt Disney World
Disney is revamping three classic attractions at Walt Disney World in Florida. The Magic Kingdom's Carousel of Progress, EPCOT's Spaceship Earth, and Journey Into Imagination With Figment are all undergoing significant transformations.
The Carousel of Progress will remain open until July 2026 before closing for a lengthy refurbishment that will keep it unavailable until 2027. The attraction will introduce new scenes centered around different decades while incorporating more modern technology. A Walt Disney Audio-Animatronic figure will be added to the introductory portion, giving Walt a physical presence in an attraction closely tied to his vision for progress.
Journey Into Imagination With Figment is also getting a major transformation, with Dreamfinder returning alongside Figment. This means that at least one fundamental piece of the current concept will need to change. The extent of the project remains unclear, but it's possible that new Audio-Animatronics and technical upgrades could be introduced.
Spaceship Earth is also getting a major revamp, with a focus on the evolution of human connection rather than just communication. This will allow Imagineers to rethink how familiar scenes contribute to the overall story.
