Disney Reveals Two Monstropolis Restaurants for Hollywood Studios
Disney has revealed plans for two new restaurants in the upcoming Monstropolis land at Disney World's Hollywood Studios, set to open in 2027. The first is Harryhausen’s, a table-service restaurant inspired by the fancy sushi spot from Monsters, Inc.. This restaurant will feature an Audio-Animatronic sushi chef with eight tentacles preparing food in the center of the dining room, just like in the movie.
The second restaurant is Archie’s Scare Pig Pizza, a quick-service spot themed around Monsters University. Named after the Fear Tech mascot, this casual eatery is designed to feel like the go-to pizza place for monster college students. Disney has also shared details about the culinary concepts for Harryhausen’s, including ramen bowls with rich tonkotsu broth and alkaline noodles, topped with fishcake sliced to look like eyeballs and green eggs. The team behind the menu aimed to create food that looks authentically monstrous while also tasting good.
The beverage team is developing Blort, a purple frozen version of Monstropolis’ favorite soda, topped with Scream Apple Foam. Disney has emphasized that these are concepts in development and subject to change. The most ambitious detail is the eight-tentacled animatronic chef, which could turn the dining room into a show element rather than just a themed space.
Chef Brian Piasecki and Evan Rosenthal, the culinary and beverage directors, highlighted the challenge of creating food that is both visually monstrous and delicious. They described the process as a collaboration that pushed the boundaries of what is considered too much, with the goal of making the food ‘grossly fun’ while ensuring it appeals to both kids and adults.
