Monstropolis Restaurants Offer a Taste of Disney’s Upcoming Monster Land
Monstropolis, the upcoming addition to Disney’s Hollywood Studios, is set to open in 2027, and Disney is already teasing the culinary delights that await visitors. Two restaurants, Harryhausen’s and Archie’s Scare Pig Pizza, will offer a mix of familiar dishes with monstrous twists. The challenge for the culinary team was to create food that monsters would love but humans would enjoy, leading to debates about whether monsters slurp or chew and how many eyeballs are too many on a plate.
Harryhausen’s, an upscale sushi spot, will feature a table service experience with a brand-new Audio-Animatronic sushi chef who uses all eight tentacles to prepare food. The menu will include traditional Japanese dishes like ramen with monster-inspired touches, such as fishcake sliced to look like eyeballs and green eggs. Beverage Director Evan Rosenthal described the restaurant as a swanky night out that still appeals to younger guests.
Archie’s Scare Pig Pizza, inspired by Monsters University, will be a quick-service location designed to feel like a nostalgic pizza joint. The restaurant will also introduce Blort, a purple frozen soda topped with Scream Apple Foam, making its real-world debut. Disney emphasized that every menu choice starts with what fans know and love from the films, aiming to create uniquely Disney experiences.
Menus and pricing are still being explored, so changes are expected before the 2027 opening. The culinary team’s goal is to make the food both delicious and entertaining, pushing the boundaries of what’s expected in a theme park setting.
