Disney Signs Shawn Levy to Overall Deal Starting October 2027

Disney's 20th Television has signed prolific producer and director Shawn Levy to an overall deal, starting in October 2027. This move marks a significant shift for Levy, who has been based at Netflix since 2017.

Under the agreement, Levy and his production company, 21 Laps Entertainment, will develop and produce new projects across various Disney platforms. Disney president and chief creative officer Dana Walden praised Levy's ability to craft wildly entertaining yet deeply human stories that resonate with audiences.

Levy has an existing relationship with Disney, having recently wrapped filming on the next Star Wars feature film, Starfighter, starring Ryan Gosling. He also directed and produced Deadpool & Wolverine for Marvel and 20th Century Studios. Levy is reteaming with Gosling and screenwriter Jonathan Tropper on a Ghost Rider movie.

Levy's tenure at Netflix was highly successful, earning him numerous accolades for his work on Stranger Things, The Perfect Couple, All the Light We Cannot See, and Shadow and Bone.
