Disney Taps Adam Smith as Chairman of Direct-to-Consumer Business
Disney has named Adam Smith chairman of direct-to-consumer for Disney Entertainment. In his new role, Smith will oversee the company's global entertainment streaming business, including Disney+ and Hulu. He was previously co-president of direct-to-consumer and chief product and technology officer for Disney Entertainment and ESPN.
Smith joined Disney in 2024 and has played a central role in transforming the company's direct-to-consumer business. Dana Walden, president and chief creative officer of The Walt Disney Co., praised Smith's work, saying he 'has done an exceptional job building a world-class team of product and technology leaders.'
Joe Earley, who was co-president of direct-to-consumer with Smith, has been named president of Disney Entertainment Television franchise and content strategy. In his new role, Earley will lead the strategic development of Disney's television franchises.
