NBC Celebrates 75 Years of Operations in Nigeria with $1 Billion Investment Commitment

The Nigerian Bottling Company Limited (NBC) has marked its 75th anniversary in Nigeria. The company, which is part of the Coca-Cola HBC Group, highlighted its investments in manufacturing and local supply chains.

A gala event was held at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja to celebrate the milestone. President Bola Tinubu's representative, Senator George Akume, delivered remarks on behalf of the president.

NBC has expanded significantly since its first production run in Ebute Metta in 1951. The company now operates eight plants, 11 depots, and 52 commercial territories, supporting jobs and local supply chains.

The Coca-Cola system contributed approximately $1bn in value-added economic activity across its value chain in Nigeria in 2024, according to a recent economic impact study by Steward Redqueen. The study also found that the system sourced almost $601m worth of goods and services from suppliers in Nigeria in the same year.

Coca-Cola HBC has committed to investing up to $1bn in Nigeria over five years, subject to a predictable and enabling business environment. The company will also invest in expanding manufacturing capacity at its Asejire Plant in Oyo State and its Challawa Plant in Kano State.
